Marco Giampaolo’s Torino FC face a stern test this Friday night, facing 2nd placed Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium, in Reggio Emilia. The Granata sit at the bottom of the Serie A table, 20th, and are in desperate need to start picking up points and avoid being sucked into a relegation battle for the second consecutive year.

Torino’s last match ended in 3-2 defeat at home to Cagliari, while Sassuolo overcame a 3-1 deficit to win 4-3 away against Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

Speaking in his pre match press conference, Torino “Mister” Giampaolo noted that defender Armando Izzo would miss his second consecutive game, having been injured all week. The Granata coach boldly stated that Il Toro will have to have the same amount of possession as the Neroverdi; the team will try and possess the ball like Sassuolo does. He pointed out that he had expected more points at this stage of the season than the zero Torino are on, and admitted that points give confidence and morale to the squad.

Giampaolo implored the Torino fans to have faith, and admitted that the club was working night and day to improve the situation they find themselves in. Regarding Andrea Belotti, the Granata coach admitted that he has never coached a striker with his attitude and characteristics. He said the defence is reliable, despite the recent mistakes, especially Nicolas Nkoulou, but so also are Bremer and Lyanco. Finally, regarding forward Simone Verdi, Giampaolo stated he will decide tomorrow whether or not the ex Napoli player will start, stressing that he’s a reliable footballer who has to provide attacking quality.

All in all, another week, another Torino match. We the fans are desperate for the whole team to show the heart and desire that Il Gallo Belotti shows week in, week out for the jersey. The Granata will have to show strength in defence, and support Belotti in attack, and put in a complete performance, in order to put their first points on the board for season 2020/2021. It will be tough against a strong Sassuolo outfit, but I believe in our club, and that the Torino Ragazzi will pick up their first win of the young season.
